404 error

404 error
I have to start off by saying that everything
has been working fine for several months and
I have not made any changes to the scripts.

Last night I tryed to go into the admin and I am getting a 404 error "file not found".

1)admin.cgi is in the proper directory
2)admin.cgi is set to rwxr-xr-x (755)
3)The directory was password protected, and I assume that it still is.

Any ideas?

Rick

It sounds like a problem you need to defer to your Hosting Company.

The problem is the .htaccess file after a software upgrade on the server.

It is now required that quotes are placed around the description of the Authname parameter.

Example:
AuthName "Private Access Area"

Good...Glad you have solved the problem. I had a similar problem awhile back and I did notice that my hosting company upgraded their web server software.

In the future, if you experience problems such as password protection. You need to consult your ISP/Hosting Company first.
