Dear Moderators of the Mighty Links!
Just saw someone saying, can one not seperate discussion threads of Links v1.1 and v2.0?
True. I fully agree.
Not only this but also categorise them, I propose. There are about 5-7 mesages per day. In a week there are about 30 messages. Just before five minutes I clicked - Modification of links in the last twenty days. The search results in 200 threads. So if there was a discussion on a theme or a topic earlier, people miss out. This also means that people ask more questions which already have been answered.
People from the third world countries do not have a "Lot of money to surf" and find out all the threads that may help them. On the other hand I better not talk about the "Price of the TERRIBLE german Telecom". (Only end of Dec. 98 the monopoly of the german telecom ended and the price of the local calls is NOT YET reduced). Sitting down in Canada, the moderators of UBB may not realise this fact.
If a person is new to this lovely Links platform would have to surf for about "Half a day" to inform himself about the ongoing topics. He may not know about specific topics. He may just want to inform himself about things what links does and how it functions and what kind of problems people encounter with. Later after informing himself he may come here and perform a keyword search.
Looking to the threads I see that it needs further division in the following categories :
Discussion on the current Links v2.0
Modification of the Links v2.0
Add-ons - Mods - Internal modification of Links v2.0 within the script itself.
Modification of the Links v2.0
Add-ons - Mods - Integration of a external perl script with Links v.20
Modification of the Links v2.0 : Frequently discussed features
Multiple categories/Sub-categories, Search issues (SQL,etc), Add a new field,
Suggestions/Comments on future enhancements
(For people like me!!!
)
Post a new topic :
Here a suggestion "Must" be there!
Please write the theme of the topic before.
The subject has to be well defined and should say what it is about.
For e.g.
Multiple categories :-----------
Nhp-build.cgi problems :-----------
Subject:
The users may announce and declare themselves their name as "God", "GreatMan", "ppp", "Mr. Stupid or Cupid" or whatever.
However, they "May" not place such a title of a topic.
