home page categories (FAQ problems)

home page categories (FAQ problems)
i've tried to check the FAQ, however its giving me a 403 message, so my only resort is to post here, where i'm sure this question has probably been asked a million times.

what i'm looking to do is list the categories in one column, as opposed to two. i've searched the forums and didn't seem to find a detailed enough answer, and as i said the FAQ was giving me a 403 message.

what i'm attempting to do is essentially conform my Links to look exactly like my forums do. i've only recently gotten links so a lot of people's suggestions here are going a bit over my head.

if it helps, the following are the urls, first to my links home and then to my forums.

thanks in advance for any help.

Have a search of the forums with the following criteria;

Forum: Links 2 Customization
Word : category columns
Boolian: AND
Date Range: All Posts
No. Per Page : 250

That brought up at least 100 posts related to what you are trying to do Wink

I would have pointed you to Junkos website, as he has a mod specifically for this, but unfortunatly it is offline at the moment Frown

actually, i figured it out myself, don't ask me how, but i did *lol*

thanks tons for the help though, would have probably saved me a LONG night *sigh* ah well.

another problem:

(seriously, i searched this one again)

is there an else command i could use? for instance, rather than post 'new' next to the categories, i've used a gif. what i'd like to do is have the script check if there are any new, if there are, then post one gif that represents new (which i already have). if there are not, i'd like it to post another gif.

i figured it could probably easily be added to the if (x<y) part of the script, problem is i just don't know exactly what to throw in there.

again, thanks for your help. i'll continue to search for this one as well, but if anyone knows how i can do it or has a link that i could use to find out how, it'd be much appreciated.

thanks again.

Do you have the Enhanced Template Mod installed? If so you can use if elsif tags.

No, you cannot use else or elsif tags, Andy! Not even the most recent version of GT:Template supports else or elsif tags. You can, however, use an if tag or an ifnot tag, as in:
Code:
<%if foo eq ''%>
or
Code:
<%ifnot foo%>
But neither of those do exactly what you need.

alright, got it and installed.

now the problem is, what's the change i make to the script. right now i've got:

$output .= qq|<tr><td class="odd" width="30"align="center" nowrap><img src="http://therabble.net/UltraBoard/Public/Images/standard/F1.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"></td>| if (&days_old($mod) < $db_new_cutoff);

alright, so a second if tag would work? for instance:

$output .= qq|<tr><td class="odd" width="30"align="center" nowrap><img src="http://therabble.net/UltraBoard/Public/Images/standard/F1.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"></td>| if (&days_old($mod) < $db_new_cutoff);
$output .= qq|<tr><td classclass="odd" width="30"align="center" nowrap><img src="http://therabble.net/UltraBoard/Public/Images/standard/F0.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"></td>| if (&days_old($mod) > $db_new_cutoff);

Maybe you could try using the following in link.html;
Code:
<%if isNew eq 'Yes'%>
Show the new image here
<%endif%>

<%if isNew eq 'No'%>
Show the other image here
<%endif%>
????
