font size modification
Which file is responsible for changing the font size of the main pages. I mean the header of all of them as well as remaing font on page? or do I have to go in each .html and modify it there?
Thanks a lot - Jens

Well, if you are using the .css file, all you have to do is edit the font codes in the .css file.

If you are NOT using .css file, then you will have to edit the header and footer of all pages. HOWEVER, I would recommend using the Header and Footer FAQ in the Resource Center as a method for putting in common part of your web pages that you only have to edit two files to make consistent changes across your web pages.

I couldn'd find the read me page for modifying the header and footer of the pagers. Where is it located? with the mdofication of the list.css file I achieved only that the menue bar is smaller in font size, but the category (w/ grey baclground) stays the same size. Is there another file to change or is that done through the header/footer.

Thanks again - Jens

Eliot,

I tried to change my font through the links.css file and it didn't change them...

This is just part of it...

/*

Paragraph */
p {
margin-left: 50px;
color: #000000;
background: #FFFFFF;
font-family: "arial";
}

/* Definition list */
dl {
color: #000000;
background: #FFFFFF;
font-family: "arial";
}

/* Menu */
small.menu {
font-size: small;
color: #000000;
background: #FFFFFF;
font-family: "arial";

Do I not put the font in "..."'s? and the permissions for this file are? I know the directory is 777...

Thanks

If you are trying to change the fonts for the CATEGORIES, then you need to manually add HTML codes between the $output .=qq| and |; codes in the sub site_html_print cat in the site_html_templates.pl file.

Look for $category_clean variable...Add font codes before it.

Thanks a bunch... Smile

Didn't like the original font...

Maybe Gossamer should hire you as their Forum Moderator, you do a very nice job helping everyone out and I'm sure you are very much appreciated for your time and effort...

May be by some...But the Moderator should have a better knowledge about Perl than me...like Widgetz, the Perl God, or someone else.

Disagreed, Eliot. In my experience, the single most important characteristic in a moderator is availability... 5300+ posts is darn impressive (no offense to Widgetz, who himself has posted over 2000 times-- often with some stunning code, but he has lately been distracted by MySQL). You have done a workmanlike job of filling in for the absense of the moderators on both this and the DBMan boards. To be clear, I also certainly don't mean any disrespect to either Bob or Carol, who in the past have been invaluable sources of information (just not lately).

i don't have the time!

actually.. it looks like an easy job cause bobsie hasn't devoted much time in the last 6 months! Smile

you don't need to have more perl knowledge.. as long as you "moderate" the posts.. you seem to hit every post in the forum..

ugh.. anyways.. i have to study for my electronics final tommorrow..

oldmoney..

i've been signed up since Oct of 1998 Smile but back then I was still using Links 1.1.. i had about 2 posts and then I decided that I wasn't interested in the program Smile i came back july of 1999 looking to build a self administered site.. (which I still haven't achieved).. i guess you can count the 2000+ from then.. so.. doing the math..

oldmoney..

if you have any ideas for mods that you consider "stunning".. i'd like to hear them.. i'm in the need of some ideas for my own site :0)..

anyways.. i haven't done much with Links 2.0 lately as I lack a running copy of it Smile even mylinks.cgi was programmed without Links 2.0.. all i needed to know was that the cookies and encryption/decryption worked and i was quite sure the rest would work..

also.. i'm tired of hearing from people about review.cgi v2 for Links 2.0.. it's not going to happen Smile there are 2 more large mods i need to get released for Links SQL which are review.cgi v2 and a DBSQL.pm forum.. but i'm waiting til the school work "cools" down a bit..

i don't have any plans for Links 2.0 as of now..

Widgetz and oldmoney,

Thank you for the kind words...But I think that we should focus on qualitative data as well (I am an anthropologist, you should know)...and it seems that a large percentage of my replies, posts, and original Threads are not very useful.

But thanks anyway for your kind words.

Also, Widgetz, I have taken the liberty of creating a Thread in the Discussion Forum to discuss possible Mods for LINKS 2.0:

http://www.gossamer-threads.com/...m11/HTML/001638.html

Since that is the more appopriate forum, and I don't think Jens1 would appreciate us pigbacking in her Thread.

Widgetz,

Ah, you caught my earlier date mistake Wink... I didn't recall you being in the forum much in the early part of '99 so when I checked out your profile, my brain told me you signed up last year, which also didn't seem right on some reflection so I checked again and corrected it. As for stunning mods, I would say that your review.cgi takes the cake. Let's put it this way... I was willing to reset all of my votes-- the most important part of my site-- just to use it. If you want to discus other ideas about Links mods and/or sections for your site, I'd be happy to off-line...
