Questions about SQL version
I am attempting to set-up the SQL version of Links. I requested my host to install the mSQL and they sent me the following: (I have NO idea what PHP is) " If you would like to use PHP with this, we would like to inform you that we only have mySQL support for PHP, as mySQL is more powerful and easier to use. "

Can anyone explain to me what it is, and if I need it, and if I DO need it, can mySQL be used as opposed to mSQL??? Thanks.

PHP is a scripting language that you write and embed the codes into your html page to instruct a query on a database or anything you like.

oh, forgot to mention, you better off installing using MySQL. But make sure you download the perl modules also --they are needed in order to run Links with MySQL.

Hi Rajani,

The SQL version you see mentioned is the SQL-Search add on you can find at the Links home page. It will take some work to get it to work for you and I have abandonded it in favor of the all sql version I'm working on (no release date available).

Cheers,

Alex
