Giving web awards with Links 2.0 w/templates
I am looking at the possibility of giving awards to some of the most outstanding sites listed in the Links database. But do not know how best to handle this.

I don't use the detailed pages, could these be adapted for my award pages? I am playing with fastaward.cgi from cgi-resources but would like to make the awards integrated with Links 2.0.

Or could I create a new category for awards and use Bobsies mod excluding users from adding to a certain category? Then create a second add page form just to handle the recommendations from users.

Any suggestions on the approach I should use would be welcomed.

Cheers - Spreester

I have decided to use Bobsies mod for adding a review from the admin only to use as info for an award. Less hassle and it's integrated with the Links database.

I am confused. I do not remember ever writing an admin review mod anywhere. Can you point it out to me? I don't think I can answer your question about it until I know what you are refering to.

Sorry Bobsie,

I just remembered your name when following the details.

Hello,
Not sure if this is written out in any one place, but if it is I couldn't find it. I gathered this from a bunch of sources here on the forum (kevinhost, Bobsie, Alex) so that people who want to do this have all the information all in one place.
This mod allows you to add a field to the links database called Review. With this extra field you can write reviews on sites that you think are worth reviewing

However if Bobsie is reading this - is there a way I can have a page which lists only those Links I have reviewed from the admin section and call it an awards page? As the reviews are listed in separte detail pages in the detail directory.

You would need to build that page, maybe when building the detailed pages, which would require a mod to nph-build.cgi. You could then create a subroutine in site_html_templates.pl or site_html.pl to do the display and possibly even create a template file for it if you use templates. I am not sure if that would cover it as I really have not installed crisco's mod. I would be happy to answer any questions regarding your efforts to create the page, though.

OR you may want to try the Editor's Picks mod (search in the forum). It works just like top sites and lists sites on a page, but you get to pick the sites. You have to add a Yes/No field in the database.
