Ecommerce mods
I am thinking about trying to make a section for ecommerce. I have been thru the Sites in Action but have only found 1 so far and it it is German.

I am just looking for some samples to get an idea of how I can do this and some ideas for the look.

Like I said, I only found the one in Sites in Action, if anyone knows of one, please let me know.

Thank you.

Some people have combined shopping cart programs with LINKS...But I don't know of anyone who has a full working e-commerce site using LINKS alone.

BTW: JPDeni is working on a shopping cart mod for DBMAN.

Thanks, Eliot. That is what I am actually looking for - combining the links program with a shopping cart program. There was only one site I found searching the forums - and it was not complete and the other in the resource centre was a foreign language.

If you do know of any that use links for just the store part, I would appreciate the link.

Thanks.

I am currently working on intergrating S-mart with links and things seem to be going ok. I am a novice to perl so its a work in progress.
Basically here is what I do...

1. Install the S-mart cart and configure it accordingly, I do not use the storefront or admin that is default with the script so I pointed it to my links db and slimmed down that portion of the script in S-mart.cgi

2. added the following to the bottom of my detailed pages (*note I use the detail.cgi mod)

Code:
Add this product to my shopping cart!
<form method=post action="http://24.147.131.6/cgi-bin/products/order/S-Mart.cgi?command=add">
<input type="hidden" name="itemid" value="<%ID%>">
<input type="hidden" name="itemname" value="<%Title%>">
<input type="hidden" name="itemprice" value="<%Price%>">
<input type="hidden" name="weight" value="<%Weight%>">
Quantity: <input type=text size=3 name="itemquant" value=1>
<input type=SUBMIT value="Add!" NAME="Submit">
</form>

That is what I have done so far, it successfully adds the appropriate item to the cart.
*Note I added the following fields to my links.def file
Price
Weight

I am now working on customizing the output (html pages) and working on shipping charges. I need to calculate based on weight, service and zipcode. Which is quite a task. Any suggestions Wink

Hope that helps you get started,
Ian
