The last time Alex was asked this question, his reply was "not at this time." The answer is still the same but I am not sure if it means that it will not always be that way.

Personally, I prefer it not to be automatic since it gives me time to browse through the newsletter before it goes out to edit anything I see in it that needs editing. HTML code looks weird in email sometimes, and, since some of the links might contain HTML in the newsletter, particularly in the descriptions, I try to remove them first. Your mileage may differ.

Well you could always use cron to automate a certain time of day to send out the mailing/execute the script.
So yes you could, the only thing that would require much thought, is setting up cron. Which is only available on certain systems (not free ones).

Actually, it isn't possible Inf, because you can call the script with Cron for unix, or Task Scheduler for Windows, but the script has to be told what to write, and be set out of debug mode. Which would all be easier from the browser in the admin script.

You lazy bastard! Just do it yourself instead of making your computer do it for you! Smile LOL

Next you will want it to make your whole site automatically too right?

Smile

Is htere a way to do the cron thing via CuteFTP? I know there's a way to do .htaccess/.htpasswd via ftp client, when technically one is supposed to telnet and do it. But I don't know anything about telnet. I tried to figure it out and was totally lost.

Ron,
The only way to do it now, would be to write the script path in the cron file, and also put the newsletter terms in like ?sendto=
but that won't send it to your database, only who you say to, and it won't generate new links, only what you write in the field for it to send.

Hello,
Soo lets suppose I have a script! And I want to send an automatic email (always the same) every sunday for example!

I have the script that does it if I just
run it in the browser, for example
www.aa.com/sendmail.cgi
how do I tell cron to do it?
How exactly (once I have no Idea about how this works) do I have to do. Do I need access to telnet? Or can I do it just using the .httpassword thing with winftp?

Thanks in advance

You need a shell telnet account. There is an FAQ about setting up Cron jobs in the Resource Center in the LINKS section.

READ it!
