Most probably you forgot to add the following codes to your sub site_html_search_results and sub site_html_search_failure in site_html_templates.pl:

Code:
link_hits2 => $link_hits2,
next2 => $next2,
link_results2 => $link_results2,

I did bro, Here is the code in the site_html_templates.pl
-----------------------------------
sub site_html_search_results {
# --------------------------------------------------------
# This routine displays the search results.
#
my $term = &urlencode ($in{'query'});
&html_print_headers;
print &load_template ('search_results.html', {
term => $term,
link_results => $link_results,
category_results => $category_results,
next => $next,
cat_hits => $cat_hits,
link_hits => $link_hits,
%in,
hits2 => $hits2,
link_hits2 => $link_hits2,
next2 => $next2,
link_results2 => $link_results2,
%globals
});
}

sub site_html_search_failure {
# --------------------------------------------------------
# This routine displays a failed search page with error in $error.
#
my $error = shift;
my $term = &urlencode ($in{'query'});
&html_print_headers;

print &load_template ('search_error.html', {
term => $term,
error => $error,
%in,
hits2 => $hits2,
link_hits2 => $link_hits2,
next2 => $next2,
link_results2 => $link_results2,
%globals
});
}

Any mistakes in the code ?

Please .....

Sorry, I seem to use other Altavista codes than you. I don't have the following:
Code:
hits2 => $hits2,
Perhaps someone else can enlighten us.

Ok. i found the problem
-----------------------------
Once i remove the <%link_hits2%> from search_results.html
it's working now.....Yahoooooooo
---------------------------------------------------------
My mistake was,i confuse the following message in the mode instruction
------------
and where you want your number of hits to be displayed put:

<%link_hits2%>

thanks
