Newsletter Question
Hello all,

I have searched throught the nph-email.cgi (and a few others) for this code with no luck.

I would like the newsletter to print the new links "detail page" *instead* of it's normal URL. This way I can have newsletter users come back to my site.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Hi,
open db_utils.pl and find this sub:
sub build_new_links {
a little below that you will see a section similar to this:
Quote:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
$rec{'Title'} (added: $rec{'Date'})
$rec{'URL'}

Replace $rec{'URL'}
with:
$build_detail_url/$rec{'ID'}$build_extension

hope that helps

Webking,

This make it so the readers of your newsletter have to re-visit your website in order to check out a new link listing.

How about if I only wanted the link to show as is in the database instead? Folks wouldn't have to come back to your site but this way it would still register as a hit. Thanks.

Ted,

The newletter readers do not actually come back to your site. The go to the site in the newsletter but via your jump.cgi which is necessary in order to record the hit. If you do not want to do that, just leave $rec{'URL'} unchanged.

Ted,

Replace $rec{'URL'}
with:
$build_jump_url?ID=$rec{'ID'}
