gpopd dies

hello there,

i have right now actived for my users the GM service.
i just found out, that under specific condition the gpopd.pl dies (running not via inetd/xinetd).
(user gave "username" in state of "username@domaine.com in the usernamefield in his mailbox")

the last lines before gpop died:
gpopd.pl 26650: <--"USER lisi" on Sat Jun 14 17:54:30 2003
gpopd.pl 26650: -->"+OK User name accepted, password please" on Sat Jun 14 17:54:30 2003
gpopd.pl 26650: <--"pass ******" on Sat Jun 14 17:54:30 2003
gpopd.pl 26650: -->"-ERR Bad login" on Sat Jun 14 17:54:30 2003
gpopd.pl 26644: Socket closed prematurely on Sat Jun 14 17:54:33 2003
gpopd.pl 24094: Child 26644 ran 0m6s connected to from 127.0.0.1 on Sat Jun 14 17:54:33 2003
gpopd.pl 26646: Socket closed prematurely on Sat Jun 14 17:54:34 2003
gpopd.pl 24094: Child 26646 ran 0m5s connected to from 127.0.0.1 on Sat Jun 14 17:54:34 2003
gpopd.pl 26648: Socket closed prematurely on Sat Jun 14 17:54:35 2003
gpopd.pl 26650: Socket closed prematurely on Sat Jun 14 17:54:35 2003

(the user have tried with the wrong username to authenticate several times)

any idea?

it seems that is a bug?

btw question:
is there a way to speed up the gpopd.pl? while running in inetd mode its much more slower than running in standallone mode.

thanks for any comments

Ack, I'm suddenly finding all these old unread messages. Sorry again :(.

Can you reproduce this? Does gpopd.pl actually die (can't tell if it really does from that output)?

Running it under inetd/xinetd will be slower than in standalone mode because every time inetd invokes gpopd, it has to load up perl, as opposed to in standalone where it's only loaded once. I'm not too familiar with gpopd, so I can't give you any advice on speeding it up. I'll find out and let you know.
