Yahoo Groups
Oh do we have a problem. We have written Jack weeks ago to get a solution to this, and haven't heard anything. I thought by posting it here we maybe would have more attention. We are receiving more and more of these bugs.

Yahoo groups sends a lot of mail to our system. Currently, when a bounce happens.. such as an overquota user, it returns thousands of messages to the original "From", even though it should be returning to Yahoo.

Thousands.

It looks like the "X-Egroups-Return" and the "X-Envelope-Return" is not where the bounces are going, which is what they should be doing. They're instead going to the "From".

But why is the Gmail processing thousands of bounces stating that the user "sissykrissy" is overquota? The account is overquota... but shouldn't it bounce once and return to "X-Egroups-Return" address? The poor user "UserX@webtv.net" listed in the "From" is some unsuspecting end user, and he received all the bounces!

sissykrissy@sissify.com did receive her mail. It's in her box. Why the bounces then? Why the duplication?

So, I am receiving all kindsa nastygrams from people trying to post to these groups that we have email users that are members of.

Please help, I am being threatened with lawsuits, and all kindsa nastiness!

Diversity by Design

Re: [diversity] Yahoo Groups In reply to
For anyone else who runs into this, it turned out to be because mail was being forwarded from one server to another, and some custom mail headers had to be used instead of Return-Path to figure out who to bounce it to.

Cheers,

Alex
