No Incoming mail
Hi All,

Just had GM 1.0.0 installed and all seems to be working except incoming mail?

I had my ISP set up the "catchall" acct.

"My ISP said"
------------------------------------------------------------------
I've pointed the below names @cooeemail.com.au to go to cooee and pointed
@cooeemail.com.au to go to gossamermail
------------------------------------------------------------------

but the incoming email bounces....

Email error
------------------------------------------------------------------

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
<guest1@cooeemail.com.au>

----- Transcript of session follows -----
... while talking to cooeemail.com.au.:
>>> RCPT To:<guest1@cooeemail.com.au>
<<< 550 5.1.1 <guest1@cooeemail.com.au>... User unknown

------------------------------------------------------------------

I have had a look thru the forum, but cannot find clear(newbie>:)) instructions for the incoming setup.

Any help appreciated

Dave

Hi!

It seems your ISP didn't set it up right as the mail is not going to the gossermail pop account. Send your ISP a copy of the bounced email and they can fix it up for you.

Cheers,

Alex

Hello,

If the email is boucing like this it means the server configuration is not correct. Gossamer Mail does not currently bounce emails.

Tell your ISP there is a mistake in the way they set this up. In order to run Gossamer Mail using a catchall account you must have an email account setup for it. It does not matter what the email address for the account is as long as you know what it is so you can enter it in the Gossamer Mail configuration area under email.
Next the server must have *@yourdomain set to go to this email account.
And finally you must run incoming.pl on a cron (scheduler).

Step by Step:
Setup an email account gmail@cooeemail.com.au
Have *@cooeemail.com.au go to this account. This means if I send an email to dsfvsdfv@cooeemail.com.au it will go to this account. How to do this is very dependant on the servers configuration.
Then run incoming.pl on a cron. In telnet type crontab -e and edit the crontab file according to the man page on crontab or you can just have us setup the cron for you (support@gossamer-threads.com).

Cheers,

Scott
