GM2 - Undelivered Email Bug
Hi,

There seems to be some sort of bug with the undelivered email that gets sent out. For some reason it's breaking words up and adding in the character '='. Take a look at the message below, which is continuous in the admin template setup.

-----

This is the WebMail service regarding y=
our message entitled:

this is a test email

I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to:

'testsetup@mydomain.com'

because that user does not exist on our system.

Please be sure to check that you entered the recipients correct email addre=
ss when sending the email. Your original message is attached.

-----

I'm not sure what's going on there. Any body else noticed this happening? I haven't checked out any of the other messages that get sent yet.

Cheers,
Regan.

Hi,

The = thing is Quoted-Printable encoding. What are you using to view your mail?

If you look at the mail headers, does it say 'Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable'?

Cheers,

Alex

Hello Regan!

As Alex said and as you may have seen my earlier messages on the Return path, I have had this problem.

However, I tried to play with the header formatting with the Qmail since I could not change the config on the shared server.

So what is happening is that the headers are not properly getting formatted. If there is an empty line things like this could happen. If the headers cannot be properly formatted then it wont pick up the Content quote/print as said by Alex. It has a default of 7bit Content and will not accept any further =20 quotable print headers.

The same you could observe by viewing full headers in any Gmail sent email.

So I would work on the *.eml i.e. Email templates and check the header area.

You can also check the Qmail site to find out what headers would suite your server.

Lastly, you could remove the quotable/print.... that is after Content: everything and it will enter default. Further, you also need to remove all the =20 coding from the bounce.eml template. Hence it will work with 7bit encoding. Then this may not happen.

Hi Alex,

I'm using Eudora to check my email. I couldn't see "Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable" anywhere in the header file of the email. I've pasted it below...
