I have installed the script as per the read me file, double and quadruple checked permissions etc but when I put the url to admin.cgi in my browser it tries to download the file instead of opening it. Any suggestions?

OK sorted this - I had forgotten to save my changes to links.cfg. DUH
Sadly, because I think this is a fantastic script, I then discover that the stupid server is running an earlier version of perl 5 and I am not going to be able to use it. Bummer. And given that it took me 6 weeks to persuade the idiots who run it to enable SSI I don't think I will be able to solve this. Oh well.

I'd recommend posting requests for hosts in alt.www.webmaster. I've made some great contacts that way, from guys who run their own servers and offer support, great deals and quality that I just haven't found with some of the larger companies. If your current host is as frustrating as you say it is, I'd say it's definately worth the hassle switching over to a new host.
