index/build processes being killed

index/build processes being killed
The re-index and build processes are fairly processor hungry and somtimes, my server kills them automatically before they finish doing their stuff.

Is there a way of making these functions more processor friendly? Or is the only way of solving this convincing a very reluctant sysop that my processes shouldn't be automatically killed?

Have you tried using telnet to execute the script? Using Cron is even a better choice, so that you don't forget to re-index your Links and Categories tables after you have updated them.

How can I stop CGI.pm from prompting me for name/value pairs?
