Netscape changes background color after a search!

Netscape changes background color after a search!
After I do a search in Links SQL, most of the Netscape background changes to a bloody red color. After I click on reload, it will return to its normal white color for a second and goes back to bloody red again. At first I thought it would only happen on my machine. Later I saw it on different computers. It is not very pleasant and I feel that something is wrong. It has been like this since day one after the installation. Does any one have the same experience as me? Is there anything that I can do to make it stay the same white color before I do a search? Any help will be appreciated!

Check your HTML, and make sure you don't do anything funny in it. Could be a minor style error in the tags.

If you are using tables, make sure they are all closed properly.

On some things MSIE is more forgiving, on others NN is.

I have never changed the default display page that came with the software yet. If there is anything funny in the display page, every one here should have the same problem. I will contact tech support and see if they can give me help. What do you mean when you talk about closing a table? How do I find out if the table is closed properly? Can you please explain as I am new to Links SQL. I really like this product. It is extremely useful for us. Thanks.

Sometimes </TR> and </TD> tags are not properly nested, or closed. If you can, run the output page through an HTML checker to see if it checks, or if there are problems.

I spent literally hundreds of hours fixing up the original template set I was using, and getting rid of _most_ of the errors.

There are a lot of things that are not working right with MSIE and NN, and hopefully they will be fixed in the next release of each of the programs.

They tried to add too many features, without concentrating on the basics of html 3.2 100% and providing error correction and or feedback for it. Instead, they can do some pretty funky things.

Most likely a problem with the CSS file. You need to change localhost setting in the background variable in the links.css file and also make sure that you have properly referenced the .css file in your search_results template file.

Could be... first thing I do is kill the .css file. That way I never hit those problems. I forget that some people actually want to try to use them <G>.

Thank you all for your responses to my question, especially pugdog and AuthroRules. In links.css file I changed the line "background: #FFFFFF url(localhost/linksql/pages/background.gif")... to the correct url and right path to background.gif. The path was from older version of Links 2.0. I changed it to point to the right place for background.gif. Since then Netscape and IE show a clean, white background. I am very happy about it.
