FAQ updated
I've started updating the FAQ again, as I posted a few weeks ago.

I moved it to version 1.13 of Links SQL, and have some of my mods installed.

I just noticed I didn't install my hack to order the new/cool stuff by links, not categories, but I should get to that later today, since that is my own pet peeve/quirk on display formatting.

Please point out any other problems you find there, or with any of my other sites. I upgraded _all_ of them (except POSTCARDS.COM proper) in the past 2 days. Postcards.com has too many customizations, so I'm waiting for the Next Generation before tackling an upgrade there.

If you'd like to support the FAQ, you can post useful information to the forum, add links (either to messages here) or to files on other sites, or you can make my partner happy and buy a mug <G>

Right now this is a one-man job, but it could use some additional input.

I'm gearing up for the Next Generation, but won't start adding/posting until we have at least the first full beta to avoid confusion.

BTW -- if you haven't tried the Alpha5 -- DO SO! You'll be impressed!!

Here are some errors I've found so far:

1) You have some Unknown Tags.

Unknown Tag: submit

Unknown Tag: special5

2) The SSI calls for your Banner program don't seem to work on some pages:

Can't find file: /www/postcards/cgi-bin/FAQ/admin/templates/top_advert.inc

AND

Can't find file: /www/postcards/cgi-bin/FAQ/admin/templates/bottom_advert.inc

3) Advanced Search ---> Error Message

Table 'FAQ.Search_Log_Daily' doesn't exist at admin/Links/HTML_Templates.pm line 1078.

Hope this helps.

Hmmm.... that's very, very odd.

I did find some other oddities, but those are easy to correct... I just didn't move them to the %GLOBALS hash properly again, and I've been updating all the sites to use zone/region include files to make maintainability easier.

Thanks, those should be smashed by now. :)

Welp...now I get Internal 500 Errors for all your .cgi scripts.

Must be you :)

Try it again. Everything's working for me.

There were just a few missing %GLOBALS tags, and a search tracking table wasn't installed in this database. The program will now keep track of daily/top and most recent searches.

Uh...trust me...it was not working 10 minutes ago...when I re-checked the site. (Internal Server Error messages usually means it is a server error, not a client error.) Tongue

Now it seems to be working okay. Wink

Looks great!

I just found out the hits weren't being properly tracked, between the detailed pages (local information) and the jump.cgi (external information). So, external links were the only ones getting rated.

That's fixed.

Part of the problem is the download "hits" weren't matching the download counts in the log files.

Just a tweak.
