pages with own names, not index.html

pages with own names, not index.html
Hi all,

I have an experiance where search engines do like page names *very* much and not so much where all pages are called index.html

Is it possible to have :
  • first_cat/index.html
  • first_cat/sub_cat/index.html
  • ...

replaced by
  • first_cat.html
  • first_cat_sub_cat.html (or first_cat-sub_cat.html)
  • ...

(means also no directory tree anymore)

this way it would be ok and with no complict with the page names as with the directory system

If poosible without an apache rewrite rule but with a *real* build ??

too complicate or too big modification ???

bye
