killing mysql
hi,

i have a big problem. i did not maintain new submissions for apx 4 months, and since i started to validate new links - my installation will not build, and kills mysql after a few minutes.. i have not changed a thing since the installation was running without problems a few months ago..

does anybody have an idea what i can do to get back up ?

1) are you running on a shared or dedicated server?

2) does mySQL die, or just seem to hang?

3) Did you check the "mysql status" to see if anything was going on?

4) When it seems to hang, did you do a ps -ef (or ps -aux) to see if the process is consuming any resources?

5) Did you try to repair the MySQL install, using ISAMCHK ? (that needs to be done as root, so you would probably need your ISP to do that if you are on a shared machine).

Just some things to test.

Run ISAMCHK on your lsql db. One database can get screwed whilst others remain okay. Try it.

Ok,

I hope you have telnet access to the machine.

Telnet in, and while the system is "hung" type "top" and see if the mysql process is consuming resources, or if it's just sitting.

and yes... one database can be corrupted when others are not.

I'd like to give you the commands for running isamchk, but apparantly my version is out of sync with my version of mysql....
