Why isn't <%URL%> searchable?

Why isn't <%URL%> searchable?
Hi.

Links SQL 2.2.0
Indexing : INTERNAL

<%URL%> search gives confusing result:
-------------------------------------------------------
Search Query Result
-------------------------------------------------------
(1). domain.tld : lists the link in search result
(2) www.domain.tld : No Result
(3) http://www.domain.tld : No Result
(4) http://domain.tld : No Result

<%URL%> format in Links Table : http://www.domain.tld

Visitor behaviour wrt search query cannot be controlled by site Admins.

Tried Every Bit in Admin Setings and nothing really works. Changing the Indexing scheme throws other things off which I have elaborated in other thread where it was suggested to changeover to INTERNAL.

Could this be resolved please?

Thanks

Can someone answer this please?
Surprisingly, this question posted earlier also never came up with a solution.

Hi

URL is searchable. I can search using any form you listed.

Have you assigned a search weight to the URL field?, I give a "1" to it.

When you change a search weight, you need to re-index, or rebuild the search.

This is on the database screen, under the repair tables option.

Have to do a Repair DB daily coz of that "Days_Old" plugin which always causes broken images. Did rebuild search too to no effect.

However, after changing the search options in admin to following:

search_bool OR
search_substring Off

Things did start to work. Not sure why but yes it does work. Technically,
http://www.domain.tld (www.domain.tld is a substring) is a substring of nothing but with substring set to On, the search result only listed the link when domain.tld was searched.

Anything will do as long as users are happy

Thanks for all the support.

Hi,

Did you download my new/updated Days_Old.pm ??

It's an expansion of the Days_Old plugin, and the functions I had added to Utilities.pm (or whatever).

The Days_Old.pm is just copied to the Plugins directory, and you call it at the top of your link.html

http://gossamer-threads.com/...search_engine#273815

here is the thread from october.

It shouldn't give broken images, since it should default to the highest date eg: 12 or 14, not 222 <G>

FWIW: Looks like the version I posted resets the isNew status of a link, so it doesn't need to worry about how "old" a link really is. A bit of overhead for some systems, but it does solve the "new" problems caused by dynamic sites. a "cron" job that runs every few hours to reset the flags can also solve the problem.
