If you have multiple template sets, _each_ set needs to have a copy of the languages.txt file. This is how you change the languages (or the error messages).

If you have an English and German site, the languages.txt file in the English templates is in English, and the languages.txt file in the German templates directory is in German.

Cool :)

hehe found a post that can help ....

OK -- got that from the go but ...

hehe, how do you build that?

let see... theory only right now ....

build once for the the "English" then build another with a slightly edited path for the "German" ???

1.) goto to Setup
2.) goto Paths and URLs
3.) back to build and away I go ???

there must be an easier way to this that I'm getting....

any help?

still in my first real week.... errrrr ..... fun!

Not quite...

If you have an english set of templates, your language.txt file should be in that directory, in english. If you have a german set of templates, your languages.txt file in german should be in that directory.

This works with dynamic pages using the page.cgi?t=german/english option.

To do what you are doing, you are building two different page trees, which is really similar to installing links twice, since each one would be using the same scripts, and same config data, they would get confused.

the "page.cgi" option will avoid this, at the cost of dynamic pages.

thanks pugdog,

just wondering though, is the load that big? I read somewhere on here that it's approximately around in the SSI area. (I could be way off here too though).

Just worried that my host would drop me.

Hi,

We do have a multi-language plugin that let's you build static html pages for different template sets. See:

http://search.zorona.com/pages/english/
http://search.zorona.com/pages/arabic/

as an example. It also handles adding different language columns for title, description, category name, etc. Send an email to jack@gossamer-threads.com if you want more information on this.

Cheers,

Alex

Alex,

Is that posted somewhere else? (resource area, products area, etc?) I've never seen this before, and I'm sure there are others who would be really interested!

Alex,

Might want to check the HTML codes for CSS reference in those web sites:

I get a 404 NOT FOUND ERROR in Netscape:

http://63.96.230.28/pages/links.css

shows up in the location box

Regards,

Eliot Lee

That's the danger of using a "linked" .css file that isn't there.

For some reason, the 404 takes over, and the entire/original request is over written by the missing "include" file.

I have dummy .css files all over the place just for security <G>

I've passed on the note. I don't think many people there use Netscape 4 as it can't view Arabic (if you have Arabic installed in IE, it's pretty neat looking at the other template set, you get the scrollbars on the left, and when you type things into the searchbox it goes from right to left). =)

Hi,

No, it's one of these mods we did as a custom job, but haven't had the time to clean up.

Cheers,
