Unable to Validate

Unable to Validate
I just recently updated from 2.01 to 2.04. Now I get an error code whenever validating links.

GT::Mail (8161): No message head was specified at /big/dom/xassociatecash/cgi-bin/Beta/admin/Links/Tools.pm line 787.

Please enable debugging in setup for more details.
When I enable debugging and try to validate absolutely nothing happens. I don't know what to do.

Oh one other thing. It does seem to validate one link at a time with that error message. If I started with 5 links it will spit out that message and one of the 5 links might make it. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Can you check Setup->Email Options and make sure you admin email address is entered? If so, please send me an email with login info so I can take a look.

Cheers,

Alex

Alex,

I just wanted to let you know that I am still having this problem. Maybe you could try validating the links that are already in que. It happens to me each and everytime I try and validate. It is very fustrating when you have 5 or so links to validate.

Should I try and re-install? This was not happening until I upgraded from 2.01 to 2.04. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Oh I almost forgot I am also having the same trouble as ManuGermany in this thread.

Building Staggered pages will not build all categories. I don't know if this problem might be related.

Thanks again

This is getting very fustrating. Without fail each and everytime that I validate I receive the very same error.

Alex I was excited when you wanted to look at this issue when it very first started. But once you were unable to duplicate the problem I have not heard a word from you since. But I still have a very fustrating problem. Is there any thought or idea as to what might resolve my problem.

ie should i reinstall the hole program?

This has not been a huge issue yet but sometimes I receive 5-10 submissions a day.

Please help!

I am just now discovering another concern that might be related. When a user adds a link the validation code is no longer being emailed but it is added to the table. I have had to manually email a few new users the validation code.

I would really like to get to the bottom of this problem it has been a month now.

Have I done something to annoy everyone? I am at complete loss as to why I have only had one response. I have had great success in getting my problems resolved here in the past.

I am now finding that there is another problem. When I am in the admin panel I can't open the browse feature. I get a blank page and an error message. I don't know if this is related or not.

Would anyone recommend a complete reinstall? Or is it possible to install back down to 2.03 where I had absolutely no problems? I have been pulling my hair out for the last month. Help.

Hi Dan,

You haven't annoyed anyone, it just takes some shameless bumping sometimes when people are really busy. On my vbulletin thread, I bumped for 20 or so days, but eventually i got an answer. Hopefully you will too.

Well Andy thank you for the encouragement. Sometimes you can feel so helpless when you have no idea how to fix something.

Hi Dan,

My apologies about how long this took to resolve, it was a pretty difficult thing to track down.

Basically, Links SQL does not allow you to use 'default.bak' as a template set, as it complains about the '.' (security measure so people can't pass in strange template names).

I've updated your copy so it works with .bak, and the validate and browse now work fine.

I'll update 2.1.0 so it works with .bak as well.

Sorry again!

Cheers,

Alex

I love linkssql. I am so happy when it works correctly it is by far the best product available(which since I have been using it has been aprox 99.9% of the time.) It appears as if I may have helped create the problem.

Alex I can't thank you enough for resolving my problem. I can't express my thanks in black and white well enough. I can't even imagine how hard it was too figure out.

Thank you again, and I apologize for any inpatience that I may expressed.
