Wish List
hi alex
I know you are busy but I have few things in mind for the LINKS SQL NG I wish that you can implant into the new version.
1- E-mail the editors only function. and E-mail all registered users function.
2- When You move, or change the name of a category I wish that the software will auto move all subcategories and the links within the moved/Changed category.
3- An option to display the editor name on the category page that He/She manages.

just a small wish list Wink .

Christa

Hi,

1. Yes, the email section has been greatly expanded and you have a lot more control of it. It has also been rewritten for bulk mailing in mind and should be a lot quicker and more efficent.

2. The category browser lets you click move on a category, and then click on the category you want to move it to. All links and subcategories are subsequently moved.

3. This will be available in the templates.

Cheers,

Alex

Hello again

1-Wish we will have the Build Staggered option in the Links SQL NG.
2- Auto dublicate check upon submission, with an an admin option to reject all dublicates when someone try to submit or accept it with its status as dublicate . (I do not know if that is possible thou).

regards

Hi!

1. This is already done!
2. I'll look into adding this in as it is commonly asked for.

Cheers,

Another idea / wish for the "Auto dublicate check".

Could you please try to make the Auto dublicate check a little bit smarter.

I found out that sometimes people try to add a link more than ones but not with the same url! There just add another html file or directory to there website and try to add it.

Example
http://www.thesite.com/
http://www.thesite.com/stillonlythesite/
http://www.thesite.com/thesite.html
http://www.thesite.com/thesite2.html
...

It is all the same but with other url's. So could the "Auto dublicate check" check if there is an url with the same "beginning" and than give a waring that this url could be a dublicate url.

There also needs to be a list where you could but some url's that will be ignored.

Example
http://come.to
http://members.provider.com
...

Because there are all use folders for there members. Or maybe you are able to make the check so smart, that it will find out if there is a duplicate url at this services.

Also it would be great to have a black list, were you could but some url's that are rejected right away or something like that. Maybe this people could also get another rejection email that will tell them, that there are not anymore allowed to add any url to Links SQL.

It would be great if you could try to but it into the new Links SQL NG.

Sorry for my english is not that good.

Adding to this thought, a check to see if the url auto redirects somewhere with a meta refresh, if it does then give the option of adding the link it redirects to instead and do a check for that link as a duplicate.

The problem with this is sites such as www.isp.com/~username/page.html

The _solution_ to this is something that was explored with the beta releases of the spider:

To take the domain name, & first do an exact match. Then, just the 2nd and top level ie: domain.com portion, and do a search of the database. Return a list of links with that domain in it.

You could click on those links, see if they were the same, and then approve or deny the current link based on that.

It's probably something being considered for the spider, that may work into Links -- or should.

Is it possible to add e-mail the editor upon submitting a new link to their category option to The NG? I think That will spice up the editor section.
