Inquiring Minds really want to know...
Alex,

Is this going to be Links SQL version 1.2 or 2.0 ?? <G>

What is this beast going to be called? I need to give it an index tag in the FAQ.

How about a contest? Whoever can come up with the coolest name for the new version of Links SQL wins a complimentry license, free upgrade, t-shirt, or some other cool prize. Just my two cents.

I agree,

where i work in the nightclub industry wheve just had a £3 million re-fit and we have a 7 metre projector installed, when it was in all the magazines we called it the FGB projector, everyone thought it was the name or the make, but to us it was just a "F******* Great Big Projector".

No seriously i think it should be called Links the Sequel.

Um, Eliot, you do remember that the script already comes with free upgrades? Smile Or do you mean free upgrades from non-SQL links, which would be the same as a complimentary license...

Actually, I was referring to other Gossamer Threads scripts like Gossamer Mail.

But thanks for pointing out my error.

I think Links SQL 2.0 is the most appropriate.

Actually, the problem with Links SQL 2.0 is the confusion with Links 2.0.

Since links 2.0 is probably never, ever going to go past a version 3.0, maybe calling Links SQL NG the 5.0 version (sort of like what M$ did with Word for Windows, to bring it into sync with DOS Word, except for the reverse reason, to keep it out of sync <G>).

Maybe calling it something completely different, would work, but then you move away from the "links" name.

Maybe calling it Gossamer Links 3.0, rather than Links SQL ?? (I don't think 2.0 is a good name, for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is the confusion with links 2.0, but also we've really skipped the 2.0 release and maybe even a 3.0 release, waiting for this one).

Sounds ethereal, and then merges it into Gossamer Mail, Gossamer Links, <G>.

I think Alex is keeping silent hoping something comes up here <G>

Ok, that sounds right.

Gossamer Links... I like it.

I agree: Links SQL 2.0 doesn't sound good.

BTW: I've been trying recently to deal with hk2k... what a mess... I'm so glad to deal with Gossamer Links ;-).

I like your ideas, pugdog...I think Gossamer Links 3.0 would be cool...it would "brand" the application and also it would be distinctive from Links 2.0 (which I agree could be better named). Or may be something like GT Links 3.0.
