Showing sub-categories - spot the dumb englishman
I would like to show the subcategories on the directory homepage at http://www.servicepals.com/directory.

I'm using <%category%> , which is what I've seen in both the AV and Yahoo templates - but it is only showing the top-level category.

How should I show sub-categories in the same way as the AV and Yahoo templates?

Hi,

You can either hard code in the HTML into the Description field of your top level categories, or download the YahooSubcat plugin (go to Plugins->Download->Show Plugins on Gossamer).

Mad

Arse, bugger, feck.

No joy. Found plugin, click install, and get :

Unable to move plugin from D:/http/**mypath**/admin/Plugins/Uninstalled/YahooSubcats.tar => D:/http/**mypath**/admin/Plugins/Installed/YahooSubcats.tar (Permission denied)

Doh doh doh. Thought I had all permissions okay - not having problems on rest of LinksSQL - running Win2k Unsure

Any ideas, or am I being a total spoon?

Hi,

This is a problem we found on some NT systems, and is related to the tar module. We have fixed it locally and it will be in the next release.

The plugin installed ok, all you need to do is copy YahooSubcats.tar from admin/Plugins/Uninstalled to admin/Plugins/Installed and everything is fine.

Cheers,

Hi Alex.

You da man. Cool

Moved it and all working now - read the About bit under the Plugin and added SUB0 to category description to enable it.

THanks for your help,

Ross

Hi,

I made some changes/tweaks to this I posted awhile back... you can see some of them on the FAQ site ... and I've hacked it a few other times.

I haven't tried it with 'loop', but I think in some ways, it will make the formatting easier. A few things are 'odd' with the layout between browsers, and with MSIE. Trying to get rid of spaces, and keep things orderly can be frustrating :)
