Your host probably has limits on how many e-mails you can send per unit of time. Contact your server admin to see if this is the case.

This has been discussed in a previous thread and since then my server admin has advised that there are no email limits on our server that would be causing these problems. Our list is around 4000 subscribers and to send a newsletter we have to restart the mailing after every 1000 addresses.

Is there any evidence of Links installs that email to greater than 1000 subscribers without the problems above? Any comment from GT on this would be appreciated.

Your SMTP server is returning an error after GT::Mail::BulkMail sends a RCPT TO line. You should get the actual error the mail server is returning in your error logs or in shell (if you run nph-email from shell). My guess is that your mail server has a 1000 e-mails per connection limit or something like that.

edit: I forgot to ask if I could get the error message that the server is returning. I think the probable solution to this problem is to get BulkMail to try to reconnect, but the sticky issue here is it getting into a loop in retrying.

Hi,

Brewt is right, I have never come across a server where you can send out as many emails as you like at one time.

What your server admin told you does not make sense!

There are time outs on every server.
