Searching question
Have one question about search engine.

Example: I have url http://www.mydomainame.com/

If I search for 'mydomain' or any substring from beginning I got result with this URL and 'mydomain' is bold.
But If I search for 'domainame' or 'name' or any substring which is in the middle or end of string no results is displayed.

Can this be fixed? Well, don't believe that this is bug but can this be done in search engine, so any substring will work.

Regards.

Any clue so far?
I am unable to get the listing when searching for;

www.domain.tld
http://domain.tld
http://www.domain.tld

On the basis of what users search... and then complain as to why their links do not show up no matter what the search options are selected even in advanced search.

Well, I could maybe look in search engine code but don't want to mess with GT code because all new updates would delete this fix.
Hope that GT will include this option in new version of search engine.

Can you say what database you are using and the indexing method on the table?

Hi,

Sorry - I thought that some combinations allowed for left substrings - but having rooted out my manual I see that it is only if you use no indexing (not recommended).

So, there is no chance to search for left substrings with indexing method?

Perhaps needs a intervention from GT.
Currently this shortcoming is causing quite a bit of unecessary explanations on Customer Support front.

I hope so. Really hope that GT make some mod for search engine because I think that this is major problem when searching (link is there but search engine don't find him).

Hi,

One option for customers searching for their own sites, is to have an extra field in the Links table with keywords in that you index. It could have parts of the url, misspellings of the name, etc. and other keywords that they would like their site to come up for in searches. You could include this in the keywords meta field on the detail page if you want the search engines to use it as well.

Thanks.

I tried searching for few of the url's (all combination) on Google and found them visible in the search results (in fact we provide a Subdomain Site Address to every link, and i searched by subdomain url on google). Actually, Clients become critical when they can find it on google (their subdomain url searched by subdomain URL) but not on links sql installation. Being a paid inclusion, they get more nasty than being merely a "Critic"

http://user.linsqlsite.tld is the format of subdomain. (can be with or without www)

:/
