Import links using CSV file
Am posting after a long time, hope everyone is doing well.
Was hoping if Andy or someone else can help me with my question:
Q: How can I upload link data via excel or csv file?

Based on an old post, I noticed that I could download link data via:
Admin -> Database -> Link+Properties -> Export Data (export data link from footer menu)
Using this, I can see the data for all links, along with category ID & name.
-------------------------------
Using above info/method, would it be possible to:
1: Create new csv file
2: Add desired link info for xxx (example 500 links)
3: Add info/value for the Category ID & Category Name (where the link should be seen under)

then use 'Import Data', the same way, above 'Export Data' option was used.

Would this work?

Thanks.

Hi,

Its been a while since I've done that - but my Data_Import plugin should do the trick. I think you have access to that one then that would do the trick :)

Cheers

Hey Andy,

I tried installing the 'Data Import' plug-in, however I received an error :(

Error running installation code: Can't call method "name" on an undefined value at (eval 18) line 76.

What version are you trying to install it on?

BTW I don't get a notification when you reply to yourself ;) (I just happened to check the forum)

Hmm weird - I tried it on 3.2.0 and it installed fine. I don't have a 3.3.0 install to hand to try and install it on. If you want to email over admin details to andy.newby@gmail.com, I'll try and have a look for you when I get a chance

Hi,

I think your copy may have been corrupted. I just uploaded a new version of the .tar, and it installed fine :)

Wow.. I just refreshed the page & had to scratch my head - as just how did the plug-in appear there.

--------------------

Thanks for that. Also, just to remove that issue, I actually redownloaded the plug-in, however, there must have been some error during my download.. will have to do better next time.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

NP. Hopefully it does the trick. It's been a very long time since I wrote that plugin, so just be sure to backup your data in case it doesn't go to plan :)
