Changing Templates?
Is there any other way to change from the default templates other than to rename a different template set?

If so how is it done?

Thanks!

Look at pugdog's reply...there are other Threads, too.

Search for new templates within this forum and also in the Pre Sales forum...mentioned a few times...

Ughhh! Blush I read through all of the posts when searching for :
Changing Templates
and
new templates

I don't see the answer. I know that I read the answer once before several months back. But I don't recall. And I know it is easy.

If I remember correctly is all you have to do is change the template name in the script. But I can't figure out where.

I think I am too tired! I have been looking for the answer for almost an hour now.

I'm not sure I know what you are asking.

With dynamic pages its really easy.

../page.cgi?t=other_templates

Where "other_templates" is a directory at the same level as default.

If you are thinking about being able to place your own templates into a different directory, and use default for the links templates, but have your script have it call templates that are located in the other directory... I had posted that awhile back, but it probably doesn't work witn 2.0x versions. It was a change to the codes in Links.pm and SiteHTML.pm that looked for a passed in parameter, and if found, called the template set from that directory. There were changes in the last 2 releases that make that suggestion invalid.

Also in Setup-->Build options you can specify which default set to use when building.

Use the build_default_tpl field.

Ughh! When I attempt to change the template set, as outlined by Brian, it does not work. I choose a different template set in the drop down menu, then click committ changes.

When the page reloads the default template is in the select box. Almost as if I were clicking the restore system defaults instead of commit changes.

Then I rebuild and it is the default template set being used.

Any ideas?

Do you see a message "Changes successfully updated" or similar? Or an error telling you the file can't be written to? That is the #1 problem with this sort of thing.

I don't recall seeing any error message. So I just tried again and it worked fine. I know that it was not my imagination. I tried at least 5 times with no success. Crazy

okay.. same problem happening with me also.
I want to choose YAHOO (as my working template). When I go to the User Templates option, its always set to default, when I change it to yahoo and click on the change button. It reloads the page, and now it does have yahoo selected. Now when I build pages, it is not showing yahoo, but the default only. Ya, tried flushing cache also still using default templates.
