Local install?

Local install?
I did a search and didn't find anything, so if I searched on the wrong terms let me know! I am trying to install Goss Links to run on my local computer because the builds on my server are crashing the server. Plus I just want to do dev stuff and play around with it without running it live on the server. I have a Turion64 processor and a gig of ram, and downloaded and installed Apache, MySql and Perl. But when I try to run the setup in Links it opens a command window then flashes shut. It appeared to do the first part of the install, just can't run the setup and get it going! This a licenced copy that isn't being used on the web, so it isn't a licensing issue, it isn't a test install.

Have you tried running the setup from command prompt or using apache?

I tried from the command prompt. It flashed a screen then it disappeared. When I looked at setup.cgi it says check to see if running from the web? Is that what is stopping it? Does it know localhost is not on the web? That was one of the reasons I installed apache, because when I ran it locally from perl it did the same thing. Apache is running.

I have it running fine on my testing setup (windows xp,apache, perl, mysql) box. I just went to http://localhost/...inks/admin/setup.cgi and it installed with out a problem.

I must not have apache configured correctly, I guess I need someone to walk me through it. Thanks for letting me know it *is* just me... lol.

I found this to be the best tutorial for setting it up http://www.ricocheting.com/server/
