Import Data from Links 2.0 to Links SQL
Hi,

i tried to import the data from my old Links 2.0 installation but i get everytime the message "The path to the Links 2.x def and db files that you gave does not exist" .

I think anything what i did is wrong ?!Frown

I read a lot of forum-threads about the import of data and i think i understand it:

- DATABASE > IMPORT/EXPORT

- Import from: "Links 2.0"

- Location of def files: (Here comes the path to the old links.def and the category.def)

What kind of path must i use ? Can i use a http-path ?

Is this correct or is anywhere a detailed manual ?

The path that is required, is the path to links.def and category.def, which are located in your old installation of Links 2. Do you have an old installation of Links 2 currently on your server?

Yes, i have an old installation on my server.

Must the old installation in a working cgi-bin folder ? Cause i have copied the whole installation in a sub-folder ( e.g.

http://www.xxxxxxxxx.de/test/cgi-bin/admin )

But when I use this URL to import the def-files comes everytime: The path to the Links 2.x def and db files that you gave does not exist

The old Links 2 copy must have been preiously working....cos thats where paths/field data are taken from to be put into Links SQL...

Use something like:

/var/www/cgi-bin/links/admin

i.e. not the URL, but the directory path.

It worked before i copy it in a sub-folder.

The reason why i copy it was that my ISP allow only one cgi-bin - folder.

Now it looks so:

root

- cgi-bin - admin - .......... Thats my new Links SQL installation

- test - cgi-bin - admin - ........ Thats my old Links 2.0 installation
