Hi,

Is there a way to manually change the Payment_Mode field for a category?

I've checked through the Admin forms and Category Browser but can't find the field on any of the forms. Am I missing it, or is there an option for making it visible/invisible?

I'm using this field to control what options are availble for Suggesting a Site, so I'd like to be able to tune it on a per-category basis from both the admin interface and category browser.

Any help appreciated.

In the admin Category browser, in the category options there should be a "Add/Edit Payment Terms" link. However, this link is only visible if payments are enabled for that category (by default every category uses the global settings). You get a similar link in the Database tools.

I've changed Payments Enabled: to Yes in the Payment Setup and this has enabled the payment mode field in the admin/browser forms.

I haven't set up any actual payment methods, will that have any effect on anything else - links formatting, expiration, etc.?

Links don't format any differently by default (you can use the isFreeLink and is isPaidLink tags for this). Depending on if payments are required or not, it will affect what the link payment status of new links will be (not paid, or unlimited).
