Help! Index page and Links gone!
Hi there!

I've been having trouble with my site LesbiansClick.com ever since I hired someone to install PHPbb.

First the bb wasn't working. Then when the programmer "fixed" it, none of the links would work.... it said they could not be located.

The person then said to try building my pages.

Now I get the following error and even my index page is blank now!

Can anyone help... please, please, please?

P.S. I don't know how to make changes myself, but would be happy to pay someone who can fix this!

Thanks!
Paula S.

Hi,

No - you won't be able to repair tables from the link. You need to go to database->SQL monitor and type in

REPAIR TABLE links_Category

in the blank box and click on Execute Query.

Okay.... I did that and it said "Rows affected: 1".

Then I did "build changes", but the site is still gone. What else can I try?

Thank you for your help!

Do you still get the same error? The key bit is under System Information.

Hi again!

I don't know what the key bit is... and I can't find System Information. What is that under?

I wanted to let you know.... at first... the site was still up... but when I tried clicking links... it said they couldn't be found.

Then when I built all.... that's when the index page went blank.

I think the error is the same... here it is:

Hi,

Sorry to confuse you. When I said the key bit is under System Information I meant you just needed to paste this bit:

System Information ====================================== Perl Version: 5.008 Links SQL Version: 2.1.2 DBI.pm Version: 1.30 Persistant Env: mod_perl (0) SpeedyCGI (0) GT::SQL::error = Failed to execute query: 'SELECT ID,Hits,isPopular FROM links_Links WHERE ( isValidated = ? (errno: 144) @INC = /home/lesbiansclick/cgi-bin/admin /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl .

So it looks like your Links table is also corrupted.

Go to the SQL monitor again and this time type

REPAIR TABLE links_Links

Reason: Can't open file: 'links_CatLinks.MYD'. (errno: 144)

This time you need

REPAIR TABLE links_CatLinks

It would probably be better to stop mysql and repair the whole database but this would take a bit more explaining.

What do you think would be best? I can continue repairing one by one... or you could explain how to repair the whole database... or I could give you the admin info and ask you to repair it?

What would the cost be to repair the database? Is this something Gossamer-Threads would do for free? or does it look like something that got messed up when the person installed the message board?

Thanks again!

It isn't something that can be done from the browser - you would need shell access via telnet or ssh - which you may or may not have.

You could just copy the list of all the tables in your database (look in mysqlman) into a comma separated list and put the list after REPAIR TABLE in sql monitor like this:

REPAIR TABLE links_CatLinks, links_Category

I think that should work.
