I'm not sure if this is the best place to put this post, but seeing as pretty much everyone in this forum owns some kind of search engine, I thought it was worth giving it a go :)

I had a brainstorm a couple of days ago (yes, it did hurt ), and I have now got a new site :)

The idea behind this site, is to help people find the 'niche' search engine. For example, if you are looking for a US specific search engine, my aim, is to have as many US related search engines in my directory.

If you would like to add your site, but can't find a category that fits your site, please email me on andy@ultranerds.com, and I'll see about getting it added :)

This site also has a 'review' feature, which I'm hoping will be quite popular, especially with the smaller engines, which sometimes don't get the good reviews that they should.

Even if this site doesn't give you much traffic (but I'm pretty sure it will), it should still put your PR listing on Google up (I'm looking for direct link partners, which will go on the right hand menu area, which is viewable on all pages).

Andy surprised me, and beat me to this yesterday.

I have several other domains that will be used for the same purpose, but perhaps re-indexed and rearranged slightly to hide from google. Each has a slightly different concept, so the categorization will need to reflect that.

NexusLinks.com
NoBadLinks.com

UniverseOfLinks.com
WorldOfLinks.com
Links2Links.com


I also have many targeted links directories, to break this up further.

So, if you get your data into the FindASearchEngine.com database, it will be used to seed these other databases.

Of course this means we now need to have a script that will update a network of sites with links from one database into other databases <G>

Most likely, though, one of these, perhaps NexusLinks.com will be the entry point for all the sites. You add your link there, and it will be added to the other databases on schedule. The other databases will direct submissions there. Once categorized, your link will also be entered into any of our other targeted/niche directories.

Need to work all this out with Andy, first, and I sure wish Community was remotely enabled already!

Interlinked link sites can be dangerous with Google these days.
Also sites with the same outgoing links on the right side, or left side, etc.

Are you going to take precautions? I do not mean the format.

But the "find a search engine" itself is an EXCELLENT Idea.

You could look at the Yahoo and Looksmart categories organizing that, etc for starters.

In today's world we always take precautions :)

I've been using 122 x 92 to differentiate them from thumbshots.org The difference is a 1 pixel border.
