Curiosity...
I have seen the following line in couple of scripts...

$Id: add.cgi,v 1.5 2000/09/30 00:15:14 alex Exp $

Of course with the values changed but with exactly the same layout. Is there a reason for this? Is it some linux thing that is added that I don't know about :) I was looking at the new Links SQL and I thought it looked weird, then I looked at the source for PHPMyAdmin and thought hmm... anyway, looks like a unix/linux thing, but I'm usually wrong.

Cheers.

No, you are right. It's called CVS and is a source control program. Now that we have four people working on parts of Links SQL, having source control is a major issue. The line you see is:

$Id: add.cgi,v 1.5 2000/09/30 00:15:14 alex Exp $

automatically generated by CVS. It means that the file is add.cgi, revision 1.5, updated on 2000/09/30 at 00:15:14 (working late!) by alex.

It also is what generates are nice ChangeLog file so you can see what has changed. Plus we can do a diff of any of the files easily.

This will be a big plus to all development efforts. You can find out more about CVS at:

Cheers,

Alex

Late??? Are you _sure_ you are a real programmer??? 12am is barely "lunch time" in the programming day <G>

Your 12 am is my 3am, and I'm usually just deciding if I need a snack, or can make it another 2 hours or so without one <G>
