Category title question
I have these categories on my site.

By City
By City - A
By City - A - Aston
By City - A - Aston - Arts

Is there a way to take the city name Aston and have it in the title of all sub categories beneath it without having to modify the category template field? I have many different cities listed and this would be a long process.

The title I want would be

Aston Arts

instead of

By City A Aston Arts

So in other words how can I display the third level category name on all of it's subcategories?

Thanks,

Craven

Hi. It should be <%category_short%>.

Hope that helps.

Hi Andy,

When using <%category_short%> it only displays the current category your viewing.

What I need is a way to display the title as

Aston <%category_short%>

on all subcategories without having to modify all the category templates.

I guess I would need a global that would display the title for the 3rd category deep.

Something like

<%name_of_global%> <%category_short%>

Is that possible?

Thanks,

Craven

This is a hard one, is it even possible to write a global that would grab the 3rd level title and dispaly it on all of it's sub-categories?

I've been trying like mad to think of somehow getting this result but nothing is working.

Looks like the only way to get the result I want is to modify 500 cat templates! It just seems like there should be a much easier way to do this.

Hi craven32

Andy has the Regional plugin that does something similar.
Breaks apart the full name into sections, but this is for Regional sections only.
Makes new fields in your category table so I presume you call the section you want.

To make "Continent", "Country", "State" and "Area"
(Continent/Country/State/Area/Category format).

I tried to use it for standard link setup but had errors because of my type of format, maybe the plugin could be modified.
