Can I install linksSQL on an IP, as I want to switch to different server, so I have to set it up first (do not want to use redirection)??

Yes, just make sure that your paths are altered to reflect the IP address and then change them back when your domain is transferred.
You will also need to go into the Licensed Area of GT and add the temporary path to your registration details. This will allow you to install and test on your new server but won't allow any updates to be downloaded.
