Survey: For the really kick-ass plugins, how many sales per month?

Survey: For the really kick-ass plugins, how many sales per month?
I've got a few ideas I'm planning to try out for my site and thinking about, it might be good for others too. I'm trying to decide if it's worth the effort to develop this w/ documentation and more general and portable for an eventual plugin, or just hack around for my own purposes. So I thought I'd ask the plugin developers, for a really awesome plugin that adds a whole new dimension to your site, (like say the dmoz one), how many people per month would buy it? (IOW, is it worth the extra effort or not?)

Thank you in advance for cooperating in the survey.

Well my friend, unless you talk about specific features, I do not think many users can say if the plugin is going to be useful for them or not. I totally understand that from your point of view the plugin seems to be useful, but others might think otherwise or might actually just love your idea - just a suggestion : why not tell us more about the plugin?

My question was more directed to people who have created plugins already and how much they've been selling theirs, at least in a vague way to get an idea. I wasn't asking othe people to say how many sales my plugin would generate...

But I don't mind sharing some features I've been thinking about. Actually I jotted down a bunch of stuff in Opera's browser, they have a notepad app. And after I reached a certain limit it silently "dropped" everything. I lost about a month of notes and didn't even catch what was happening :( devastating...

Anyways, to give you an idea of one the ideas I've been fooling around with and looking at code, I'd like to create a Plugin to spider all sites in the Links database, for each site keep a tally of words and word frequency and then be able to tell how many duplicate sites there are. Actually a bunch of stuff related to this. Like spidering the site every X days, and when there is a major change, to flag a database field that the site should be checked if an affiliate pulled a bait and switch. To detect if there's porn on the site. To log frequency of "site down" status so that I would check if the site forgot to renew the domain and was bought by a spammer. To detect if it redirects to a Seeq site where they make a business of selling clicks on parked domains...stuff like that in one Plugin.

When your database grows to a certain size, it is really hard to keep track of old domains and this would help manage it all.

So it's major work obviously and only worthwhile if some decent sales can come of it. But I doubt I'll do it at this point. Doesn't look like it'll be worth it.

Another feature I'd like to add is an extra field where you can indicate DuplicateID. What it would do is allow you to include a resource in the database that won't show, and you specify which website it is a dupe of. For example,

KeywordOne.com and KeywordTwo.com are just one domain parked on another. If you delete it from the database, they can resubmit and you'll forget that a dupe is there. But if you leave in the domain, they can't resubmit it (thanks to the dupe Plugin already there), but at the same time it won't show because you have that field saying it was pointing to another dupe domain.

It won't make you loads of quick money... but if you are patient; it will soon be made worth your while (as long as the plugin is wanted by people :p).
