vBulletin Integration
Hello All,

I've recently upgraded my site to vbPortal, which relies on a vBulletin back-end.

I'm looking to integrate my directory with the user-data from vbPortal/vBulletin. I know there is a plugin for vBulletin, but I was wondering if this was compatible with the2.1.0 Beta1 release of LinksSQL that I'm running?

Quote:
The Auth_vBulletin plugin will allow your Links SQL database to authenticate off of your vBulletin user database. This way, any user in your forum, will automatically be able to log into Links SQL.

Please enter the path where vBulletin is installed

I know that Gossamer are now promoting their own forums system, so there may be less incentive to support vBulletin, but I've got around 150 links in my LinksSQL database, and I'd really like my users to only require one login system.

Any ideas?

Ross

Hi,

We don't have a copy of vbPortal, so I'm not sure. Our Gossamer Mail vBulletin plugin worked on vBulletin 2.2 without any changes, so hopefully it should be ok.

Cheers,

Alex

I believe vbPortal modifies the userdatabase, which is why it would be useful to check. Inlink and weblinks are gaining the upper ground for vBulletin customers due to the integration, but I prefer LinksSQL and would prefer to integrate this with vBulletin instead.

There is a free download of vbPortal at http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33608

Hi

Did you get Links SQL integrated with vbulletin? I visited your site, and it looks like you did. If so, would you mind to share the information on how you did so? I am interested in this as well.

Thanks!

Hi Servicepals...

Thank you for the quick reply. I originally purchased Links SQL for a travel related site, but we ended up using another script, that was more friendly for the purpose we had in mind at the time. It just dawned on me that I had a purchase of links sql that wasn't being used, and that it would be a huge upgrade over the existing web links that comes with vbportal.

Anyways, the site I want to use it on is located at:

http://www.escortreviews.com

This is an adult related site, no dirty pictures or anything, just adult related conversations and stuff. So I made registration required. If you want to see it, just use temp and temp as the user and pass.

I would like to know how to integrate it instead of using the weblinks. If you would rather post the instructions or do it for me (for a charge of course), either way is fine with me.

Thanks,

Chris

Also, I don't need to really have the database of vbulletin tied in with the links sql. Basically I add the links myself, and any users will be able to suggest links and I will verify them myself.

I am just confused on how to integrate links SQL to blend in with the rest of the site, just like the web links is integrated.

thanks.

Hi,

The new version of the plugin that Gossamer released a couple of weeks ago is now working fine on my site - suggest you try the plugin again if you gave up before.

Cheers,

Ross

Hi,

I installed the forum plugin on my Linkssql. It is located here :

http://213.133.100.164/links/user.cgi

Itīs not set up finally yet because we are moving servers and so the database is not yet imported.

As you can see with user

Username : -zenner-

Password : xbitlabs08

the User is not accepted. I am sure the paths are right, so I am unsure what I did wrong. The forum is located at http://213.133.100.164/forum , so there you can see that the login works.

Thanks for your help
