Hey Ian,

Maybe a flow chart would be better to show for this plugin as it is about traffic generation and uses multiple points of start and finish.

An example is attached.

Cool

TOP X TAG In reply to

UPDATE

The TopX tag is coming along nicely. The tag is TEMPLATE BASED. So you can do your own formatingWink I will supply a base template for you to modify, just to save you a bit more time during setup. Not that this plug-in takes much to set-up.

I think my skills are getting better each time I go back and revise a plug-in or write a new one!

Anyways, version 2.0.1 will be due out tonight. (2.0.0 is already out - minus the tag). I'll make a fresh thread when I realse the update.

Thanks for drawing this Brian! I hope you can all get a better idea of what this plug-in does from the picture!

Ok,

How should this tag rank (order) the output?

I currently have it ordering as follows:
  1. By Exposures (page loads of counter image on remote site)
  2. By IN (inward clicks from your counter or image)
  3. By OUT (hits in links)

Comments appreciated.

I will ultimately make a setting for changing the order, but for the next version, what would be the preference?

Re: [Ian] TOP X TAG In reply to
I would say by IN.

The reason is that OUT is not a reason to rank high, EXPOSURES can be enhanced on their end but actual site visits (IN) are hard to manipulate. So my vote would be for IN!

Cool

DONE!

So now:
  1. IN
  2. and if two are the same, it will order by OUT, and if they are the same still, then by exposures

IN, then OUT, then EXPOSURES?

or IN, EXPOSURES, OUT? gosh

I would say IN, EXPOSURES then OUT

Exposures at least give you advertising! Crazy

The OUT is really to sell the program to the Link Owner.

Of course if I were wearing a raincoat it would be exposures first! LOL

Re: [Teambldr] TOP X TAG In reply to
Ok,

The tag looks like this at the moment:

<%Plugins::RemoteCount::TopXCount('TopX','Max Title Length')%>

You would use it like:

<%Plugins::RemoteCount::TopXCount('100','75')%>

This prevents your Titles from being huge and spoiling your formatting. What it does is caps the title length at the value you specify and tacks on a space and three dots:

"Birds of a feather floc ..." This would be a setting of 23 for example... giving a total string length of 27 (4 for the space and three dots).

If you wanted a full length name what would you enter?

Re: [Teambldr] TOP X TAG In reply to
The maximum length of the field for title in Links. Check your Links Table... I beleive it is set at 100. So you would just put 100.

Edit: If you are not sure... then put a rediculous number like 1000, and RC will still handle this Wink

Alrighty then, I could not help it:

Top X Count

# This subroutine returns the toplist
# Called with <%Plugins::RemoteCount::TopXCount('TopX','Max Title Length', 'Sort Order')%>
# Order:
# iox - IN OUT EXP
# ixo - IN EXP OUT
# xoi - EXP OUT IN
# xio - EXP IN OUT
# oix - OUT IN EXP
# oxi - OUT EXP IN

Now you can pick the order right from the tag!

Example: <%Plugins::RemoteCount::TopXCount('100','75', 'xio')%>

Returns the top 100, with titles capped at 75 chars, and order by Exposures, In's then Out's
