[RELEASED] vBulletin and Days_Old

[RELEASED] vBulletin and Days_Old
Hi,

I've put up on Gossamer the Auth_vBulletin plugin and Days_Old plugin.

Auth_vBulletin integrates your Links SQL user databse into vBulletin, a popular forum package. It has been tested only with version 115.

Days_Old plugin was written by Robert Blackstone and lparry, and produces the three levels of new on the link and category listing.

Cheers,

Alex

Excellent! This is enough to make me order the package :)

Alex, take a look at to see if this will work with vB 2.0.0...

Looking forward to getting this operational :)

Is vB 2 out yet? I didn't think it was. The author and I exchanged a license of each (as he is going to use Links SQL to maintain a list of resources about vB I believe). So I will have a copy available and can update it when needed.

Cheers,

Alex

Should be out any day now (he says with his fingers crossed!)

I must say i'm absolutely delighted to discover major new versions of my two favourite scripts are to be released within a week or so of each other - will really improve my site.

So if you have a vB license, does that mean that we might be seeing it here ? I used to visit almost daily when you used UBB, but I stopped when you installed this package as it's pretty cumbersome IMHO - would certainly look forward to visiting if you had vB here too :)

No, we don't have PHP installed, and I'm really more comfortable with something I can tweak as needed. =) What do you find cumbersome about w3t?

Alex

That's a shame. Oh well, I can't have it all I guess... :)

What don't I like about W3T ? It's just not intuitive to me - i'll just have to make an effort to get used to it I guess as i'll have loads of questions to get answers to with the new package :)

It's funny, but I like w3t much better than UBB.

-first answer would be the horrible threading thing it uses, in searches it is infuriating having to view the post and then the thread.
-The
Code:
tag dosen't work as well.
-Email is unreliable in new posts, you also get it if you reply to yourself which is just annoying.
-it looks no where near as good (in fact i would almost say uglyish) but then the new wwwthreads looks a lot better.
- don't know if this is your installation or not but no post counts or anythig like that are displayed next to users..
-it dosen't have "last post by" in the thread display.. this is quite annoying
- the search is a "lot" weaker than vbulletin, especially vb2.0

and lots of other stuff.

;)

Can anyone confirm exactly how this plugin works ? I installed it and nothing seems to happen. If I click on the 'about' link in my admin panel, it throws an error (which, incidently, seems to have baffled both Alex and Mel as they cannot fix it :( ) I also have a bug which means I cannot import Links 2 data - maybe they're connected ?

Thanks in advance for your help :)

PS - if anyone's interested in the error, here it is:

Hi,

This is due to a bug in the plugin, I'm not sure how that got by as it was working on my vBulletin installation (yet the one you got won't even compile). I've updated the plugin on your site, and also the one you download.

Cheers,

Alex

Alex, vb is out as beta1 now. I would wait perhaps until beta2 is out which will be in about a week i think. I doubt there will be any changes after that to the user table, there probably won't be betwee vb1.4 and vb2.0 either but better be safe.
