package GT::Date is missing date_parse
I hope this is the right spot for this - anyone wishing to use the GT::Date package will find the function date_parse is missing! Its descibed in the doco but its not in Date.pm!

Any chance of adding this as it looks very useful?

regards doug

I think I posted something about the date package either here or in the other plug-ins forum about 3 months ago. I'm not sure what it was about, but yes, there were some missing routines, some routines that were mis-named.

I don't remember what Alex's answer was -- either it was being worked on, or it was changed in a later release.

I think my solution was to only use the date routines the way links was currently using them, and create my own routine for my immediate need.

BTW... there are some _great_ date routines available on CPAN. They are large, probably more than most people need, but you can trim them out, and use the parts you need.

Hi,

Hmm, it seems there never was a date_parse(). This would be a useful addition, but if you look at things like Date::Manip, you'll see they are very large for a reason. Trying to guess a date format takes quite a bit of code.

I've updated the docs so it doesn't mention it, but I don't think this will be something we add in.

Sorry!

Alex
