I am going to release an update to User Monitor in the next few days (I hope).

Just to recap from the last thread:

-------------------------------------------------------------
To Be Done
-------------------------------------------------------------

I was wondering if users profiles could be listed out on a page like this:

User 1
User 2
User 3
Etc...

Hey Ian,

Is it possible to have the user list split into two columns like the main categories do?

This would allow for more listings on a page.

As well, is it possible to have a person claim a category as their home category then show the lists based upon category choice?

Just ideas!Cool

I am not sure I am understanding... you meand have a link to the user's profile page like in Editor Monitor?

Somehow assign a category to a user? Is it just one category or the whole category tree?

When a user signs up they choose a home category.

Then when ALL the users are listed they are broke out into groups based upon a home category.

Advantages:
Lists will be smaller and more defined
Marketing can be directed at a specific userbase interested in that category
Forums groups can be created for users that are within a specific group
etc...

As per links to their profile, these would be from the main list (by category) and directly from owned links.

Does that make sense?

This would mean you would need to upgrade your copy of Links to the newest version when it comes out, to be able to use the automated reward deposit for reviews. But it will be there!

Hi Ian,

Can a user tag be added to the links template so that the link owners profile is linked directly to their link in the directory?

Example:

(Added: Mon Aug 19 2002 Hits: 0 Rating: Votes: 0) Rate It Review It Recommend Link Owner

or...

(Added: Mon Aug 19 2002 Hits: 0 Rating: Votes: 0) Rate It Review It Recommend Submitted By

or...

(Added: Mon Aug 19 2002 Hits: 0 Rating: Votes: 0) Rate It Review It Recommend Owners Profile

Is that possible?Wink

Yes.

I would have to check to see if the linkowner is available in the link template (I am not sure off hand). If it is, this could be easily used to call up the profile page, with out any code changes. You simple tack on the <%link_owner%> to the path to the profile pages. Or of it is a dynamic directory you do the same with the um_profile.cgi.

I would have to look at the files to quote the correct details, but I don't think this would take much alteration to make work.

Hi Ian,

I noticed something in EM and was wondering if it carried over into UM.

When I enter a message to all or to a specific editor it does not post a message. I think that it may be related to my setup issues as well.

When I install EM I have to set all EMSettings first, then repair then hit statistics to build. If I try to change a font color after the install it does not apply the change. It will show in the settings but the change will not follow through. And since the notes section is also in the same area the problem may be associated.

Any ideas and will it be the same on UM?

Thanks!

Hi Brian,

Would you beleive I actually have a fix for the notes/docs issue for all of the plugins. It is just untested.

And that was going to be in UM 1.2.0, before disaster struck with my machine.

I am not sure if it is related, but EM and UM are pretty much the same now with the settings tables. The problem with using the plugin options for settings (as I did with EM and UM originally) is each time you re-install the plugin, these settings are reset to their defaults. Not good if you have a lot of them or intall and uninstall the plugin often. So this coupled with the request of three users, I moved most of the plugin options to the EM or UM_Setting table.

Check to see if the setting is still in plugin options for UM, if it is, then there is the problem. If it is in UM_Settings table, then it is something else.

Make sense?Crazy

UM 1.2.0 will be getting user profile image upload abilityCool

I worked out the code to do this, and it just needs to be added and tested. I can't test it myself, so hopefully I can get one of my users to test for me :)
