Ok, here's my idea ... I haven't seen it yet, well in other uses like in ./ sites.

If you can subscribe to have email sent for certain forums ... why not be able to subscribe to view certain forums ... well like in ./ you can choose what type of news category you want to show on the main page. save space and skip topics that don't interest you.

I don't use windows ... so being able to see the "Links 2.0 instalation -- windows" just takes up space and I keep seeing the yellow folder ... nothing wrong with that but imagine ... if you like visiting dbman only you'll only see dbman fourms ... you won't have to scroll down to the bottom of the page anymore.

like I said it's only an idea ... and quite possibly a useless function but some folks might like it! Of course, these folks might miss out on other things but you could always include a link to show all forums regardless ...

what cha all think?

hehe ... that's why I said "possibly useless" .

praticle, very ... I guess ... just that you'd probably loose a lot of information but then again like I suggested having a link to view all forums might be a possible solution.

ahhh .... I still hate scrolling down to the dbman forums.

I believe a similar option is place already. Try the following url, for example:

http://www.gossamer-threads.com/...orum.cgi?category=5;

It just lists the forums within a paticual category, in this case LinksSQL.

I've found that but I'd like to knock off entire topics -- ie in the LinksSQL category --

I don't program so the author area is ... sadly to say not very useful for me.
Same with the plugins ... I won't need that until later
and links sql 1.x I don't need since I'm a 2.0 user.

Fundamentaly a big pain to check all the forums I'd like to visit but once done I don't have to page through areas I don't need or don't visit.

Making everyone scroll through Links SQL, Gossamer Mail, Gossamer Forum before getting to the general Perl/CGI help forum (or any other at the bottom) is intentional - we want to drive home to you that you should check out those products

It is something that can be done, but I wouldn't hold my breath to seeing it in the initial release - perhaps in 1.1.0.
