New install
HI,

I have tried this three times and I am out of patience.
I uploaded the 1,11 version of gtforum. I fallowed the read me. When I call the install.cgi script I get the whole script in a browser page. It will not execute the install.

I have checked the path to Perl. I have Links sql installed, so I am sure it's the same one. I checked permissions...

What am I doing wrong?
Any ideas?
Thank you.

Hi,

Make sure you put the install.cgi in a cgi-bin directory, or some directory that can run cgi scripts.

Cheers,

Alex

I tried running the install.cgi from the cgi-bin directory. I got a 500 server error that time. Again permissions where set to 755 for install.cgi, install. cgi was owned by apache and in the apache grp. So what am I doing wrong?

Do you have access to an error log?

Yes here we go.
This is what I get when I call the script in the cgi directory

80.11.133.68 - - [19/Feb/2002:06:42:31 -0600] "GET /cgi-bin/install.cgi HTTP/1.1" 500 603
80.11.133.68 - - [19/Feb/2002:06:42:37 -0600] "GET /cgi-bin/install.cgi HTTP/1.1" 500 603
80.11.133.68 - - [19/Feb/2002:06:42:52 -0600] "GET /cgi-bin/install.cgi HTTP/1.1" 500 603

The ip is mine, the 500 is a server error. What is the 603?

Thats looks like your access log not the error log.
