Internal Server error on admin.cgi
I just ran the install.cgi, and it said that the install was successful. However, when I try to point my browser toward admin.cgi, I get a Internal Server error.

Here's what the errorlog says:
%% [Sun Dec 23 21:14:52 2001] GET /cgi-bin/gforum/admin/admin.cgi HTTP/1.1
%% 500 /big/dom/xcurvemag/cgi-bin/gforum/admin/admin.cgi
%request
Accept: */*
Accept-Language: en
Connection: Keep-Alive
Extension: Security/Remote-Passphrase
Host: www.myhost.com
UA-CPU: PPC
UA-OS: MacOS
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Mac_PowerPC)

Can anyone explain why this would be happening?

Hi,

Do you have access to the server error logs? If so, what do they say?

Cheers,

Alex

ok. it seems like the files were not properly set up in ASCII mode. I've had this happen before as well. I don't know how to fix it, since I made sure to upload the install.cgi in ASCII mode, and the install.dat in binary mode. I ran the install.cgi successfully, and my files are not in the proper ASCII format.

I had this happen with LinksSQL before, and the only fix was having Alex install it for me. Why would the install script say the install was successful, if it was not?

how can I get this installed so that the files that need to be in ASCII - are.?

Hve you tried to upload the install.dat as text?

I do a lot of work with Japanese fiels and even though they should be uploaded as ascii I have to upload as bin files ... strange but works. Must be my ftp program, I'm used to it and too lazy to find a new one Laugh

just an idea.

Ok. :)

I tried uploading the dat as ASCII. Didn't work.

I then looked in my decompression methods. There was an option under preferences about "Convert text files to macintosh" and it was marked "yes". I changed it to "no" and re-unstuffed the original gz file.

this fixed the problem. Blush

No, they should be uploaded as binary not ascii. The dat file is a tar file renamed.
