Upgrading vesions?

Upgrading vesions?
I find myself not in a hurry to upgrade forum versions and wonder if you find it as unsavory as I do?

Having to check all of the templates, compare the differences, etc. I'm going to do it, but am dog tired at the moment and am trying to figure out when I can block out a couple of hours to do this. Gotta shut the forum down, load the upgrade, and then spend an hour or two checking stuff.

Maybe I just need some caffeine.

Hi Scott,

For 1.1.3 -> 1.1.4, and 1.1.4 -> 1.1.5, we tried to keep the number of template changes small.

See the attachment - it contains a template set diff for 1.1.4 to 1.1.5. "-" at the beginning of a line indicates that a line was removed, and "+" indicates an added line. Where a "-" is right above a "+", it usually just means the line changed.

Well now that looks very handy. Any chance of bundling that with future distributions?

Yeah; we had an idea to start doing it a few versions ago, but it seems we forgot about it.

I've added it to the feature list for the next version.

Any chance you have retroactive copies for earlier upgrades? I've hardly changed any templates since 1.0 :)

Retroactive copies for earlier upgrades would very appreciated for me too!

Here we go... A diff for every version upgrade, and from every version to 1.1.5. Crazy

Good luck Unsure

What software do you use to generate that?

I've been using CSDiff which is good but that looks nicer.

VIM

It has a "convert to HTML" feature - it produces an HTML file that looks exactly like what you'd see in VIM.

Mmm that convert to html feature is pretty nice...but how are you actually generating those difference files?

Something like this:

Code:

cvs diff -u -b -N -rgforum_1_1_6 -rgforum_1_1_7 dir1 dir2 ... | gvim -
