Editor problem
I can't use the graphi editor. the edit box isn't coming up in the current MSIE.
if I click to "basic" editor, I can work (obviously)

Also, sometimes when I do that I get an error "orig_message" tag is missing.

Also in Mozilla. Connecting and waiting, connecting and waiting, connecting and waiting, ... and then no editor.

Oddly, if I click first in the area where the text entry box should be, I *don't* get the orig_mess_body tag doesn't exist error when I switch to the basic editor. If I just switch, I get the missing tag error.

Subtle.... but maybe important.

The editor problems described in this thread should now be fixed; there was a javascript parent/child window permission problem when accessing the forum through http://gossamer-threads.com/... instead of http://www.gossamer-threads.com/..., as the editor was refering to the full path rather than just "gforum.cgi." Errors caused by this should no longer be present. I've also fixed up a few problems that might have shown up on slow connections.

If you _do_ encounter any further errors as of this posting, please post a message here (the GForum Discussion forum) immediately.

Is their a minimum version of Mozilla that is required use the advanced editor? This my version of Netscape/Mozilla and all I see is the basic editor....

Netscape 7.02
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.0.2) Gecko/20030208 Netscape/7.02

I believe Netscape 7.1 is the minimum version supported. Prior versions were based on the Mozilla 1.0 code branch (as evident in the "rv:1.0.2" section of the version you pasted), while 7.1 is based on the Mozilla 1.4 code branch (It shows rv:1.4 on my copy). The necessary support for the advanced editor was added to the Mozilla engine ("Gecko") around 1.3.

Hi,

I had to force clear my cache, but it seems working now.

It's much _slower_ loading ... *much* slower loading.

(I have a P4, 1gig, 1.7 or 1.8+ mhz, etc).

Slower in Internet Explorer, or do you mean in Mozilla?

Hi Jason,

I use IE 6 with a 300Mhz computer and I find the typping slower with the new editor. Just for that, I still prefer the old advanced editor. Unsure Also for me the double space between paragraphs was great; is there a way to continue to use it with the new editor?

The yahoo email advanced editor keeps in cache the text when we go back to another page. Do you think it will be possible to include in future that feature in your advanced editor?

Thank you.

François

I've just upgraded and I'm getting a javascript error with the advanced editor:

'outerdoc' is null or not an object.

Sorted - I'd edited the include_post_html_common_write template at some point in the past - just restored the old version and the error disappeared.

Editing the template was probably for the polls plugin, I had the same problem.

Writing polls: in include_post_common_write.html and include_post_html_common_write.html insert

<%if poll%> <%include include_poll_write.html%> <%endif%>
just after
<td> <input class="button" type="text" name="post_subject" tabindex=1 size="50" value="<%post_subject%>"> </td> </tr>

I haven't upgraded my servers, but I switch between wham3 and this server hourly or so, and the forum there loads virtually instantly. I clocked this one, on this return trip, as taking 4+ seconds.

That was AFTER the rest of the page loaded.

It has taken as much as 8+ seconds.

Again, after the rest of the page (headers, footers, smileys, etc) have loaded.

We did have some problems on the server that we have just fixed up. Is it still slow for you?

Cheers,

Ok,
I gave it a few chances.
It seems that once the page loads, the icons start to populate, and the smileys start to populate. Then, the editor pops in to view.

The total time is between 6+ and 8+ seconds.

The smileys/icons do not seem to be cached.

The loading is *much* slower than the old editor, with the whole page loading in well under 2 seconds, even the first time.
