Is there any way to post a message and have it stay sorted at the top of the list of posts in the forum? I'd like to have "annoucements" or "forum rules" that will always show up at the top of the list.

This would be a desired feature for me as well. This has been brought up before and is expected to be in v2 due after the first of the year...at least that's the last estimate I've heard.

Does anyone know if there is a field for the post that I can modify with mySQLman to have that post always sorted to the top?
Even if I was able to manually modify a field, and lock the thread, that might alright.

No, nothing in MySQLMan. A couple alternatives:
1. Edit the forum display template and add something to the effect if the forum_id is the forum you are interested in, then place a link to the sticky post you want.
2. Set the date of the post to something in the future (can cause problem with new posts).
